Minnekhada Lodge Wedding // Amber + Leo

I met Amber and Leo through a Facebook group - I was looking for some couples to photograph for a photo contest I was entering and they offered to model for me! When I went to their house to take photos of them for that project, they let me know that they’d actually just gotten engaged! We connected so well and it was natural for me to photograph their wedding in the summer just a few months later.

Minnekhada Lodge in Coquitlam, BC was also an easy choice for their venue because it was so sentimental. Amber’s parents and grandparents (whaaat!!) had been married there as well! Amber and Leo’s wedding was full of true-to-them details - Amber’s wedding dress was made by her mother, one of their friends made the beautiful cake with earthy mushroom details, and the rugs down the isle created the best pops of color. However my favourite part of their day was their super relaxed and loved-up vibe throughout, and a fun and emotional ceremony that had everyone laughing and crying. The guests got to toss dried flowers over them as they walked back down the isle as husband and wife. These two are truly made for eachother and their passion is palpable. I love it!

It drizzled throughout the day - like many of my weddings in 2019! - and it never put a damper on anyones spirits. Rain on your wedding day doesn’t need to be a scary thing, especially with a plan and a positive attitude. I loved that Amber + Leo wanted some cosy photos inside alone once we were done with the group photos. When you have such a beautiful space and venue it’s definitely worth it to take advantage of the different locations for photos available!
